    FBI Professional Firearm Instructor Opening

    Position: Law Enforcement Specialist (LES) located at the FBI Academy, Firearms Training Unit, Quantico, VA. 

    Description:  The FBI currently has a staff of non-agent firearm instructors that serve as experts in firearm safety, effective use of law enforcement firearms, and in the use of deadly force and firearms for and by the FBI.  These instructors work alongside agent instructors and deliver firearms training to New Agents and to all other personnel who are authorized to carry firearms.

       * Successful completion of a basic law enforcement training program and/or possess prior law enforcement experience
       * Knowledge of law enforcement training techniques and concepts, along with the ability to develop course outlines and lesson plan materials, and the ability to recommend and implement training programs
       * Prior experience as a law enforcement firearms instructor
       * Knowledge of professional instructional methods and practices used in a formal classroom environment
       * Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing as it relates to subject material
       * Skill in counseling students regarding areas of training and/or problems and ability to motivate them
       * Ability to persuasively present facts and research results to individuals who have different points of view and/or different comprehension levels
       * Ability to research changes in assigned topical areas and specialized fields, and ability to identify or recommend new approaches to meet overall training objectives and student needs. 

    Salary: GS-7 to GS-13
